# WEAKENED RHYME

An agreement in sound in which the **final syllable** of both words is **unstressed**.

{% hint style="info" %}

> muscle / angel / animal / acustical
>
> hatching / crusading / overtaking / revolutionizing
>
> after / ventilator / impersonator
> {% endhint %}

{% hint style="warning" %}
Because of the way in which lack of stress affects the sound, a rhyme of this kind may often be regarded as [consonance](/rhyme-type-reference-1/rhyme-type-reference-overview/consonance.md), which occurs when the words are similar only in having identical final consonants (best / least).
{% endhint %}

For dictionary entries with multiple words Rhyme Genie always matches the final word of the phrase. To find only single words simply deselect the phrases, proper nouns and charted songs options.
